FREE CROCHET PATTERN: Easy Atmospheric Fringe Cowl

I always wanted to make one-hour project and here it is. This truly light, still warm and textured, infinity tube stands out as a bohemian cowl with fringe. Made just in less than one hour. Extravagant and atmospheric, it is perfect for wearing at autumn over a coat. I used 300g of Super Bulky yarn to make it. It is fun and quick project and I would like to share it with you.

What do you need to crochet this super bulky cowl?

  • 300g of Super Bulky Yarn (I used Alize Megafil Super Lana), in 100g - 55m
  • M-13/9.00 mm crochet hook

Dimensions:

Width - 80cm
Height (without fringe) - 28-30cm. If you want ot make the cowl higher, you would need 1 more 100g skein.

Round 1.

Ch128 for foundation chain (multiple of 4), join with a sl st to ch-1, ch2 (counts as dc), 2dc into base of ch-2, (ch1, sk3 sts, 3dc into next st) repeat to the end of round, sc to ch-2 at beginning.

Round 2 (crochet mesh pattern).

Ch4, repeat (sc into ch-1 sp, ch4) around until the last 3dc shell of below round, ch2 and dc into sc at beginning (the one you made to join Round 1).

Round 3.

(Ch4, sc into ch-4 sp) around, complete the round with ch2 and dc into dc at beginning (the one you made to join Round 2).

Repeat Round 3 and work 9 more Rounds of mesh, in total you will make 10 rounds (in the end of each round - dc into dc from previous round).

Finishing Round.

Work a ch-3-picot, repeat (ch3, sc into next ch-4 sp, ch-3-sc) around. Sl st to base of ch-3 picot at beginning, fasten off and cut the yarn.

Make fringe!

Cut the yarn into 12" or 29-30 cm threads, attach them to ch-3 spaces.

To secure the fringe, I did it this way: folded thread in two, inserted hook into ch-3 sp, picked up the loop and brought  it upfront, yo and pulled yarn through the loop on hook, yo again and pulled both ends of thread upfront and finished the fringe. I just wanted the fringe of this super bulky and atmospheric cowl to be "eternal" ))).

If you have finished your cowl - I would love to see your works on Instagram @lesialittleadventure, or on Ravelry.
