FREE CROCHET PATTERN: utilize your bulky yarn remains!





Blue Flower Brooch

As a dedicated crafter with different desires on colors, shapes and combinations - I have a lot of yarn remains. Often I am thinking of making something from my stash to organize the yarn better. This Flower Brooch is made from Bulky yarn, is simple and can be a nice embellishment for any cardigan, coat or a capelet.

  • Bulky yarn, 4 colors: Yarn 1 (light grey), Yarn 2 (blue), Yarn 3 (dark blue), Yarn 4 (mocco)
  • Aran yarn, 1 color for the tassels and the chain: Yarn 4 (ivory)
  • 6.00 mm crochet hook

Small Flower


Round 1. Take Yarn 1 and make a loose slip knot. Ch1 (doesn't count as a st) and work 6 sc into the loop, sl st into the first sc [6sc], finish off and cut the yarn


Round 2. Attach Yarn 2 to any front loop of Row 1 and sl st into 6 sts, slip the loop off the hook gently, insert the hook from the wrong side into the 1st sl st of Yarn 2, put the loop back to the hook and bring it to the Wrong side.
  
Round 3 (Worked at the WS, into the 3rd loop of Row 2). These 3rd loops are clearly seen, so, ch2, into the 1st loop work (2dc cluster, ch2), into next, and each following loop work (sl st, ch2, 2dc cluster) 5 times more to receive the flower with 6 petals, in the end of the Round - sl st into base of ch-2 and cut the yarn.

Large Flower


Round 1. With Yarn 3 ch9, sl st into the 1st ch, joining into the circle. 
Round 2.  Ch5 (counts as a tr), into next and each following ch of ch-9 loop, work (tr, ch1)3 times. In the end of the Round - join with a sl st into ch-5, finish off and cut the yarn.

Small leaves

 
Row 1. Take Yarn 4, ch14, sk1 ch from the hook ad sl st into next ch, sk next ch, work a puff st into next ch, sk next ch, sl st into next 9ch. Row 2. Ch11, sk1 ch from the hook ad sl st into next ch, sk next ch, work a puff st into next ch, sk next ch, sl st into next 6ch. Finish off and cut the yarn.

Tassels

 
Take Yarn 5, make a chain (35ch), attach 2 small tassels to each end of the chain.

Make the brooch!

Hide the yarn tails and sew all elements of the brooch together: tassels and leaves put under the larger flower, smaller flower - place on the top. If desired - add some beads on it :)
